The Popular Library of Sallent was opened in 1918. It was the first public library of the Mancomunitat de Catalunya in the province of Barcelona. The original building was situated at the end of the park. After the Civil War, the Diputació de Barcelona took charge of it and additionally, the name was changed to the current Sant Antoni Maria Claret. In 1989 the library was moved due to the poor condition of the building and the lack of space. The new selected situation was the House Torres Amat, a historic building at the centre of the town that was rehabilitated to place the library.
